Axel Rudi Pell: The Crest Tour 2011

Germany is home to many great musicians and bands, bands such as Accept and Scorpions hail to us from Germany, singers such as Udo Dirkschneider (formerly from Accept) and Doro Pesch and of course guitarists such as Michael Schenker, and it's in this last section that Axel Rudi Pell sits. Right now Axel Rudi Pell is touring to promote his latest album, the Crest, and they made a stop in Belgium on the 29^thof January.

The band Powerworld was opening for Axel Rudi Pell. This band, formed by Ilker Ersin (formerly from Freedom Call) played a pretty bad ass, but short set. Andrew "Mac" McDermott, who is stricken by health issues was unable to tour. Standing in for him was Michael Bormann.

After Powerworld it was time for Axel Rudi Pell to take the stage. Axel, accompanied by singer Johnny Gioeli, Mike Terrana, keyboard player Ferdy Doernberg and bassist Volker Krawczak played a tight set of old songs and new, and one very good cover of Rainbow's "Temple of the king". Although their setlist was pretty short, the show was excellent, and now I guess we'll just have to wait for the 15^th CD to come out.
