On the 27th of August it was time again for Alcatraz Metal Fest. This metal festival took place in the Brielpoort in Deinze, Belgium. The line-up was pretty sweet again this year!
Headliner this year was Helloween, but the rest of the bands weren't shoddy neighter and it was another blast of a festival.
I was there with my trusty Nikon to cover the event.
The first surprise of the day came really early. I hadn't seen After All in ages and they opened the festival. The first thing that I noticed is how they as a band have grown over time. If you haven't seen them yet, fix that asap!
But After All didn't just show up, they brought a special guest with them, Guido Gevels from Cyclone, making this an excellent way to start the day!
The other big surprise came later on the day in the tent stage. Where Angels Suffer is a band featuring ex-W.A.S.P. members and their (way too short) set list consisted mostly of W.A.S.P. songs.
U.D.O. was also very good, but then again, U.D.O. is always awesome. Helloween however.... They disappointed me this time. Unlike their gig in the Trix last year they basically ruined their show with constant jabbering in between and during numbers. A set list of 11 songs in one and half hours? Seriously?
